Tribute – Two Mollymook Ocean Swim Legends

Mollymook Ocean Swimmers,Mollymook,beach,Swimmers,ocean

Jan and Pete Humphries

.

The two most consistent long distance ocean swimmers at Mollymook are Pete and Jan. Over the years they have been the backbone of the group, regularly holding BBQ’s and get togethers at their former Fairmont Ridge property, Jan the effervescent, happy, cheerful hostess with the casual nonchalant Pete always taking on the cooking duties.

Milestone

Monday February 2, 2015 marks their 42nd wedding anniversary.

The beginning of their amazing journey

With Pete growing up in New Zealand, the young reporter inquired how did you both meet? Jan vividly recalls the occasion; “she was doing a tour of NZ. Having a drink one evening she noticed an unassuming but good looking young man. However more importantly, what caught my eye was a ‘random act of kindness’ that this young man extended to another patron. That ‘act of kindness’ led to us meeting and sharing a few words and agreeing to catch up the following day. It went from there and within 6 weeks we decided to marry and thus begin this incredible journey, sharing the remainder of our life together”.
