News Updates: Mollymook Ocean Swimmers

The Mollymook’s Ocean Swimmers

From the British Isles, Kath gives an update on her retirement travels: Hello Mollymook Ocean swimmers.

Hope you’re all well, how are you going Gary?  We arrived on the Faroe Islands Monday afternoon and wow, what a landscape! These pics are from a place called Gasadalur on Vagar Island where the airport is. Lots of tunnels here to get through mountains or from island to island. We are now on Streymoy island. Google translator app has been very helpful, but most people speak English.

Hey Andrew, we loved Scotland, would have liked more time there. And we did go to Glasgow. Well I haven’t swam in this particular area yet, but will definitely be going in the ocean. Love, Kath from Mollymook.

Father Peter Hendricks shares this news with the Mollymook Swimmers.

From Peter the Priest: Two pieces of news from me.

  1. My mum passed away last week (Wed 17th), while very sad, the good news element is that she was ready and it was peaceful. The family were all there for her last two days which was very precious.
  2. Last Saturday, the family gathered for my niece’s wedding, so in the midst of all that was happening, that was indeed a wonderful celebration.

Thanks for keeping everyone connected.  God bless.

Spent time at the ‘Charlotte Plains’ station, then onto Hebel. The bird life out here is amazing, I’ve taken a few thousand pics. I’m so busy, I haven’t had time to go through them all, but here are a few to give you another view of the outback.

CLOSED      Small Town Food & Wine Restaurant

.

Alex Delly and wife Jo Thomas of St Isidore fame have opened their latest venture, ‘Small Town’ in the heart of Milton.

.

Their reputation alone speaks volumes for their ability to serve quality fine dining meals at affordable prices, having been awarded a ‘Chefs Hat’ by the ‘Good Food Guide’ in 2019, 2018, 2017, & 2016 and being ranked by ‘Gourmet Traveller’ in the top six N.S.W. regional restaurants in 2018, 2017, & 2016 with their previous restaurant, St Isidore.

My wife and I (Ken and June Banks) recently enjoyed the ‘CHEFS SELECTION MENU’ a degustation lunch. The fusion of flavours in each of the eight serving courses was extraordinary, each matched with quality wine that complemented each course. Alex, without a doubt has a unique creative genius in his vision and ability to prepare meal after meal that is amazing.

Some fine dining friends visited ‘Small Town’ two days later and were delighted by the delicate flavours and culinary skills of the chef with quality matching wines.  Guests from Mollymook Beach Waterfront have also been unanimous in eloquently describing their experience in regard to quality and variety of flavoursome dishes, service and ambience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Emerson’s on Main, Thai Restaurant, Ulladulla.

For a delicious Asian style cuisine with a diverse large menu of mouth watering seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes, I recommend you try this restaurant where many locals go. Fully licensed.

A review posted on TripAdvisor: What a surprise!  “We love eating out in the local Mollymook Milton Ulladulla area, however we had not ventured to south Ulladulla to try this restaurant. By chance, I overheard various people waxing eloquent about ‘Emerson’s On Main’. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by the hostess (friendly and attentive to our needs) who took us to a table that captured the outside breeze due to it being such a hot day. She was extremely polite. I chose ‘Salt & pepper Calamari and King Prawns’ and my wife chose the ‘Thai Duck Salad’. I can honestly say that this was the best Thai food we had tasted in a long while. An absolute surprise. Highly recommended for those who love Thai food”.

This Thai Restaurant has a Licensed Bar. At the rear of the premises it sells Bali/Asian Homewares, Outdoor/Indoor Pots, Water Features, imported direct from Jakarta Indonesia.

Trading hours are seasonal: Currently Lunch, Thurs. to Sun.

So I sent an email to Chris who responded with the attached pages of his draft, progress to date. (This draft covers some of the introductory pages in response to Graeme W. kind request). I’m sure we will be happy with his finished product, he is an expert in this field. So here is a brief insight into what we can expect, a book about us Mollymook swimmers. Gift Vouchers – Think Tallwood Restaurant

.

Highly Recommended, the purchase of a ‘Gift Voucher’ for use at the Tallwood Restaurant for that special person.

.

Tallwood eatery,Tallwood Restaurant,Gift vouchers,mollymook,Mollymook Beach Waterfront

Tallwood Restaurant – Owner and Executive Chef, Matt Upson

.

Some very dear guests visiting Mollymook and staying at the Mollymook Beach Waterfront accommodation became aware of my wife’s recent 70th birthday and graciously purchased a ‘Gift Voucher’ for use at the Tallwood Restaurant, one of, if not their favourite restaurant on their annual visit for holidays each January into this beautiful area.

On their card they wrote: “To the wonderful June, a little something to keep the birthday celebrations going”.

June was overwhelmed, she responded “what gift voucher could you give to someone that would be so useful, appreciated and enjoyed, as an evening at the Tallwood Restaurant.

We waited for the January Holiday rush to subside and then chose a carefree evening to savour the Tallwood Restaurant delights. For starters we chose ‘House sourdough and accompaniments’ an easy choice to enjoy with a recommended Pinot Gris wine.  Then the servings began. a) One of our favourites throughout the years since Tallwood opened is their ‘Portuguese fish cakes with saffron mayonnaise. We love this dish, so tasty! b) The twice cooked Duck leg followed with chilli vinegar, fragrant salad was mouth watering, so tender, the only way to serve duck in our opinion. c) Next we chose the market fish of the day, accompanied with eggplant, pomegranate, lemon, sumac. So tasty, the flours that accompanied the fish were nothing short of amazing.  d) We were already fully satisfied, the servings had been very generous, nonetheless as is my custom I had another dish on order. It was the beef rump with mushrooms ragout, silver beet and kipfler chips. Fabulous! The beef so tender and the accompaniments along with beans, broccoli, ginger and garlic filled with flavour.

Highly recommended should you be looking to give a gift to someone special that will be truly appreciated.
