Wedding anniversary – Reflections – The Big Race

Wedding anniversary – Reflections – The Big Race

.

Wedding anniversary: We had the cake and we waited, I think Billy muttered the words ‘de-ja vu’. We quizzed Billy what do you mean? Well he said many years ago I waited patiently at the altar for my lovely bride Bianca to arrive. And 46 years on, nothing has change … then around the corner arrived Bianca and Billy’s face lit up.

Reflections: A low tide was perfect for for pictures with reflections. Our model librarian, is always available to help out.

The big Race: Saturday morning was the occasion for the kayak paddlers to challenge the swimmers. They were pretty chuffed with their win, even a whale in the background gave a splash of applause.

Grapevine: Word has it that one of our swimmers is in Vietnam whilst another has a birthday coming up that ends in a big 0.

Where is the water? Kath asks basking in the sun at Uluru.

A swimmer identified in the outback.

.

Kath writes from Uluru: “Last night we watched the sunset glow around Uluru then the full moon rise behind it, amazing!

This morning we went out to a sand dune in the desert and watched the sun rise, had bacon and egg rolls cooked for us. Then walked and got up close (and personal) with the rock. We had a really good guide that brings so much history and background to the country. Say hi to everyone. Kath xxx

Feedback:

  • Gary returned for a swim this morning. He mention that whilst he was in San Fransisco he was able to keep up with all the comings and goings of the swimmers by reading his Mollymook News Ocean swimmers posts.
  • Peter Hendriks msc sent an email to say he enjoys keeping up with the swimmers via the photos and stories.
  • Jackie sent an earlier email: “Its great to be able to see what the surfs doing each day from your web posts. See …..there really no need for me to get out of bed !

Swimmers tour of the local wineries

Senior Ocean Swimmers Winery Tour

.
The day started with our usual swim, although our carer for the day swam early with Karelle and Jackie, without a clearance from the board of directors, this will be noted! The bus arrived at Milton with our carer, (Heather) and her able assistant Paul, to pick up Ray,Jo and the special reporter of the day, Young Billy was next, ( solo so he partnered Ray for the day!) then on to Banister Head for the new residents Jacqui, John and the Canberra reps, Helen and Neill.

Our bright eyed and bushy tailed group of the Mollymook ocean swimmers descended upon Cupids winery to start the the annual wine fest tour of the Ulladulla and surrounding district wineries. A collection of on the spot photographs show our brave little band of sippers as the day wore on to slip into a more decadent seasoned lot of motley drinkers.
As you will observe from the accompanying photos all out enjoying the beautiful crisp country air of a South Coast winters morn discussing the venue of the day with Neil & Helen our Canberra connection soaking it all in.

So the day started off rather nicely discussing the various bouquet’s and aromas of some of our districts fine wines on offer.

The Rise to Prominence!

The Rise to Prominence!

.

Seasoned Mollymook ocean swimmer Bobby White returned from an inspirational trip representing Milton Ulladulla at the International Rotary conference held throughout this past week in Sydney.

Having rubbed shoulders with many International dignitaries and inspired by stirring speeches from the likes of the Prime Minister of Australia (whose own dad Dick was a Rotarian), the Premier of NSW, numerous motivational speakers that included a Para-Olympian plus international cricketer Brett Lee etc – Bob returned home filled with enthusiasm on his plans to make local Rotary relevant in the 21st century.

Bob is the current Milton Ulladulla “President in waiting”. His coronation into the top honcho’s job will take place among invited dignitaries on June 24, 2014.

At his 1st press conference, Bob opened up to the young reporter with some of his ‘left field’ plans. It is his intention to hit the road running and wants to leave a legacy of being a ‘Change agent’ in his endeavour to re-invent Rotary in the Milton Ulladulla area.

In honour of Graeme – June 5, 2014

Mollymook Ocean swimmers,Mollymook,ocean,swimmers,beach

In honour of Graeme – June 5, 2014

.

The evening began in a subdued manner. The gathering spoke highly of Graeme as they recounted various stories of his outstanding organizational skills and the fine venue at Bannisters ‘Pool Bar’ as another couple recounted their story of being on the way to the Star Hotel at Milton only to hear by chance that there had been a change in venue. Others rolled in late with similar stories, in fact the Librarian almost gave up on locating the group and considered ordering a meal at the Star Hotel on his own.

Nonetheless most that we know of (20 in total) ended up at Bannisters ‘Pool Bar’ for seating on a tabled booked for 10.

It was an outstanding attendance as most had left their sick bed (mans flu) to attend on this momentous occasion, unlike there guest of honour, Graeme who choose not to attend.

Pete Humphries sent along his apologies having a prior engagement at the Marlin.

< < The remains of Graeme’s cake as shown after Billy arrived with present and card. Debbie offered Bill a slice of her lovely specially home baked Birthday Cake for her loved one and before we knew it Billy almost polished the lot off and absconded the cad.

The 1st Day of Winter.

  • Cheryl was our 1st of June birthday girl.
