In honour of Graeme – June 5, 2014

.

The evening began in a subdued manner. The gathering spoke highly of Graeme as they recounted various stories of his outstanding organizational skills and the fine venue at Bannisters ‘Pool Bar’ as another couple recounted their story of being on the way to the Star Hotel at Milton only to hear by chance that there had been a change in venue. Others rolled in late with similar stories, in fact the Librarian almost gave up on locating the group and considered ordering a meal at the Star Hotel on his own.

Nonetheless most that we know of (20 in total) ended up at Bannisters ‘Pool Bar’ for seating on a tabled booked for 10.

It was an outstanding attendance as most had left their sick bed (mans flu) to attend on this momentous occasion, unlike there guest of honour, Graeme who choose not to attend.

Pete Humphries sent along his apologies having a prior engagement at the Marlin.

There’s more, continue reading.

The time had arrived for the “planned” entertainment. Without introduction “Jack Nicholson” rose to his feet and in remembrance of Graeme, attempted to lighten the solemn atmosphere with a joke about a fella before a magistrate in regard to his “Love affair with a Duck”. Throughout his career, Jack has portrayed many unique and challenging roles, some have included dark portrayals of neurotic and psychopathic characters. However on this occasion Jack was in trouble as the straight talking magistrate described the sexual charges in graphic terms using colorful language. At the conclusion of proceedings with the claimant in absolute denial, Jack choked and coughed up all these feathers sealing his fate as guilty.

The party concluded as the heavens opened up and the rain tumbled down as it too paid homage to Graeme. It was truly a “Night to be Remembered”.
