.
Pods of Whales: Few whales have been sighted during the traditional Sept – Oct period this year however Friday was huge with pod after pod moving south down the coastline. Those pods of whales that were close to Mollymook beach, were ideal for photography.
Africa Mercy Ship: Just a reminder, on channel 7 TWO tonight 2nd November, from 7.30 to 8.30 is a presentation called “Mighty Ships”. This showing is all about the Africa Mercy, not the medical services provided, but all of the issues and challenges that have to be overcome in order to keep the ship fully operational so that it can perform its function as a hospital ship in Africa.
Celebrity birthday’s and Mollymook Cairns
.
Celebrity birthday’s on October 24:
Along with former great international swimmer Gertrude Ederle, our own Louise M. celebrated her birthday Oct. 24 at the ‘Beach Hut’ cafe Mollymook.
.
Cairns:
Mollymook showed off its own ‘Cairns’ showpiece (above) at Collers Beach this morning. An unknown artist put together this rock sculptor and (below) Popeye – Mick Purcill shows a different ‘Cairns’ structure at Mollymook Beach before vandals dismounted it. Stone cairns are considered an ancient art form, and are often constructed by balancing large rocks or stones on top of smaller ones. No mortar is ever used in making a stone cairn, which is what makes this feat so amazing. Cairns have been popular in many cultures since the prehistoric times. Pic below shows those in Ireland and Stonehenge.

Swim at Mollymook Beach or Budapest – Where would you Choose?
.
Ross M. sends this image of him joining in with the Sunday morning swimmers, Budapest style. He claims to be the good looking bloke somewhere in the middle and of note, he is not wearing a wetsuit as the water temp was 35 degrees. Ross and Sue are presently doing the cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam.
Peter the Priest led the service at Mollymook Beach this morning. He centered his message around the scripture 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing”. He also shared the joke when a young man entered the confession box and said “Father I have sinned”. The Priest answered: “I know, I’m on Facebook”.

Springtime in Mollymook
Springtime arrives in Mollymook
Hey Allie and Bruce, take note of our glorious Mollymook weather. (We won’t tell you what last week was like)
Glorious sunshine in Australia greets Valarie and the girls for their return from doing it tough for 5 weeks in the USA and Hawaii.
Much has been happening, surf board riding, swimming, watching, tea bagging, photo shoots for the up coming Mollymook swimmers book “A Moment in Time”, and may I add so many are requesting a better photo of themselves, you would think the pics were for an issue of Vogue Magazine. Enjoy!
Young ‘Carer’ looks out for the Elderly
Young ‘Carer’ locates elderly swimmer in convalescent park!
“Ken, Where have you been? Are you OK? Missing you at the beach”. ‘Carer’
From the Crescent Heads Convalescent Park
This was a lovely message to receive. To think someone was thinking of me up here among the unemployed, elderly and grey nomads.
Neighbours
We arrived last Monday. On Tuesday an elderly couple arrived and set up camp next us. Asked me about my BK surf board. Went on to introduce themselves, Bob and Chris Kirby from Burrill Lakes. Come Thursday a couple set up camp on the other side of us and it was Terry and Bev Conran from Burrill Lakes. Later I met the people opposite us, they were from Broulee and were heading home to attend a surf comp at Mollymook’s Golf Course Reef on the Saturday. (Small world)
Toby
He went missing during the night and after spending much time out searching for him, once found he spent the rest of his holiday in detention.

Anne- Marie was on the spot to capture this very unusual photograph emerging from the sea, a mystery man. Was it a plane? Was it a bird? Looking a little worried after realizing there were no phone booths nearby, he just stood there in front of us all and brazenly donned his cloak. There was no mistaking, ”It was Superman”!!

Graeme’s birthday revisited
Graeme’s Birthday REVISITED!
Although the principal carers were not in attendance there were sufficient deputies to ensure an almost one on one ratio! NSW Health take note. And were they needed, almost immediately the seniors started to wander off from the enclosure, (private room), and proceeded to jump around the place in the belief that they were dancing to the music. The carers soon joined in on the dance floor and kept a watchful eye on their charges in case of any falls or injuries. A couple of noted performances were Jacqui “maracas” and dancing Dougie although some believe he was only trying to get to the bathroom!
The only down side to the night was the Birthday boy thinking we had bought him there as a present, he not only ordered extra takeaway but shot through without paying! Ulladulla police have been notified and are investigating.
All in all a great night was had by all, John Louth was last seen sneaking out for a “toke “ with some stranger who gate crashed the party.
