Mollymook Ocean swimmers believe the winter months can be the most idyllic time of the year for ocean swimming, albeit the water temperatures are lower, however  the ocean on many occasions can be smooth like a lake. It is a time when you experience spectacular sunrises, pods of dolphins and out further whales trekking north. Then during the day, Mollymook beach can be so picturesque with not a breathe of wind and in the evenings, spectacular sunsets even the occasional rainbow. Mollymook Golfer Completes ‘Nullarbor Links’ – The Worlds Longest Golf Course

A unique concept creates the ‘World Longest Golf Course’ that stretches 1,365 Km across the great expanse, namely the Nullarbor Plains. The courses varies in quality from the amazing Kalgoorlie course with its undulating ‘greens’, grass fairways and the ‘rough’ consisting of fine red dirt to the unique ‘links’ along the various roadhouses with their synthetic tees and greens, wildlife and a variety of fairways, each with their own degree of difficulty. A great feature of the Nullarbor course is that it helps break up the long haul across the Nullarbor with each link adding so much variety and challenge.

Tallwood Restaurant never disappoints

Executive Chef Matt Upson has this uncanny ability to bring out the finer flavours in each of the ingredients used in the various dishes. Our meal on the weekend could not be faulted. We began with the chefs selection for an entree of local raw fish. It was absolutely magnificent! This was followed by a shared plate of Korean BBQ chicken and we finished with Hanger steak accompanied with vegetables and potato dumpling. The food was of the highest quality and the service was excellent.

Winter specials not to be missed: Each Monday evening Tallwood are presenting the ‘Chefs Choice’. Three courses and a glass of wine for $45. Each second Sunday they have ‘Yum Cha’ on the menu.

Apart from Anica’s recent photography and paintings of the local area the gallery proudly showcases the works of about 25 local artists and craftspeople. Everything from hand-blown Murano glass jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, stained glass, textiles, shell and driftwood pieces, lustre-painted porcelain as well as other photography and paintings. In addition to local art there are gifts for all occasions and plenty of greeting cards with a local theme. Anica also restores and prints your photos on site.

At Tallwood we sampled small portions of the chef’s amazing signature dishes, all in one sitting with carefully chosen and amazing wines to accompany each respective dish. It was an appreciative fine dining experience of carefully chosen foods that focused on the gustatory system and the senses, with a high culinary art. It was shared with great company, family and friends. Guests asked me to make special mention that there was no fuss whatsoever in catering for some of our guests who had special dietary requirements viz, gluten free and vegetarian. All dishes were of the highest standard.
