The 2016 BIG4 Bungalow Park MAKAI Cup was conducted in ideal conditions on Saturday February 13, with a strong nor-east wind whipping up the ocean allowing the paddlers to ‘surf the waves’ with their sleek crafts in their downwind 22 Km race from Sussex Inlet to Ulladulla Harbour.

The peloton comprised 98 paddlers that included the 2015 NZ Sportswoman of the year Teneale Hatton.

Members from visiting clubs were in awe of the local organisers who did a marvelous job with 30 support boats and crew in the water plus the Navy Helicopter providing overhead surveillance.
