Australian Tourism Awards 2012 Winners

 

South Coast Accommodation ‘Mollymook Beach Waterfront’ was awarded silver at the 2012 Australian Tourism Awards announced in Hobart on Friday evening February 15, 2013. These were the 28th Australian Tourism Awards, the annual celebration of the highest achievements of Australian tourism businesses.

Winners were announced from 27 categories covering the many sectors and experiences of a diverse tourism industry with Pennicott Wilderness, operators of the Bruny Island Tasmania Cruises receiving the Qantas Award for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism.

Interstate winners included:

  • Adventure Tourism – The Maria Island walk Tasmania,
  • Business Tourism – The Adelaide Hilton,
  • Major Tourist Attraction – Uluru National Park.

  • Festival & events – The Deni Ute Muster,
  • Tourism Restaurants – Margan Restaurant,

“Tourism contributes $96 billion annually to the national economy,” Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy said, and he went on to commend the finalists and category winners for their collective effort in delivering “world’s best” tourism experiences in Australia.

  • Beautiful walkway around the bay to savour the sights and spectacular scenery,
  • Whale and Dolphin watch cruises of the bay for getting “up close & personal” with these wonderful sea mammals,
  • Hire a kayak a take a paddle with some playful dolphins,
  • Take a walk or swim at Hyams beach,
  • A “must do” is lunch at the newly renovated Husky pub.
  • Consider hiring a “Stand Up Paddle” board.
  • Besides the above, you could visit the “Lady Denman” maritime museum, have coffee at Pilgrims vegetarian cafe, visit the Ex Servicemen club, take a picnic to one of there secluded beaches and much more.
