The Castle, the iconic peak of Morton National Park.
The Castle is a spectacular and challenging day walk to one of the iconic peaks of Morton National Park. While the total distance is not large, the climb is capped by a series of exposed scrambles near the summit. Good fitness, coupled with a head for heights is required. The walk is not recommended when wet as the scrambles would be quite difficult and dangerous.
The walk is best from late autumn to early spring, as the cool weather allows for a more pleasant climbing temperature.

Simone tells you about their walk on Sunday
Simone writes: “Chloe, Robbie and myself climbed to the pinnacle of the castle on Sunday. Beautiful weather for a walk not too hot, it was a strenuous 19km walk and climb. On the way we passed a small waterfall which we enjoyed a cool down on the return trip.
At one stage we passed through a squeeze having to take our backpacks of, then on to the rope climb. To reach a magnificent breath-taking view of Byangee Walls and Pigeon House. The top of the castle had lots of water holes on it. The walk down not as hard on the cardio fitness but tough on the body. I did bounce off a few rocks. We so enjoyed our swim in the Yadboro Creek at the end, to relax our sore muscles. Not a walk for the faint hearted but we’ll worth it”.
