Navy Surf Boat Series held at Mollymook Beach, Saturday Nov. 28, 2015
.
A glorious dawn welcomed the ‘boaties’ to Mollymook for the 2015 Navy Surf Boat series. Crews traveled from far and wide to compete in this prestigious series. Competition catered for junior men, junior women, open women and open men. Mollymook fielded crews in both the open men’s and open women’s events. Both Mollymook boat crews did exceptionally well and once they achieve race fitness, the medals will begin to flow. (We can only hope that once they become celebrities, they don’t forget their humble swimming friends who stood by them giving encouragement during their formative years)

The Mollymook men’s crew comprised of Jon Hozack (Stroke), Ryan Gough, Brent Hurley and Gary Warburton (bow). This was their first outing this year and they were very competitive which came as no surprise as they had rowed together a few years earlier as juniors and are just getting back into training. Marty Drysdale their sweep was relieved on this occasion by Garth B.
Kate and her groper. Kath and Steve’s daughter Kate retrieved this massive groper washed up on the nearby Narrawallee Beach. One can only imagine how big the shark must have been to take such a clean bite.

Enjoyment
.
Ulladulla Harbourfeast: For enjoyment a group of elderly swimmers and their wives chose a ‘Locavore’ evening of fine food and wine. It was a four course dinner using only local ingredients and prepared to perfection by chef Johnny Staples, (nephew of John and Jacqui)
Bikie: John’s enjoyment when he is not swimming or driving the IRB (Rubber duckie) or spending time at the golf club or with his lovely wife and children, loves to recapture ‘his youth’ trail bike riding. On this occasion a group went on an organised trail bike tour covering 200 klm’s through the bush south of Batemans Bay. Some of the territory included almost vertical climbs that they would hit at 40 Klm an hour and then maneuver a similar steep decline. John said “in stages it was very challenging”!
