A wonderful result: Isabel Szanto declared the Mollymook Ocean Swimmer of the Year, 2019
.
.
What one word could be used to describe this beautiful lady? It was suggested Vivacious! So much life, energy and spirit. What an incredible example for swimmers so much younger than Issi. 75 years of age, working at the Ulladulla Leisure centre teaching youngsters to swim, operating Air BnB accommodation, an underwater model, ocean swimming every morning and much more. Some people are just naturally fun to be around; they sparkle, they animate any group they’re part of, they’re full of life, this is our Issi.
Congratulations Issi from all the swimmers, a well earned award.

Memories are made of memorable evenings like our Swimmers end of the year ‘Awards Evening’.
It was a great evening to look back and celebrate another momentous year where again many friendships were cemented by daily contact over coffee after our early morning swim and socially getting together. The past couple of years have seen the musicians among us making a great contribution on the social side. Ray with his fiddle, Tim and Mike with their guitars, Lloyd added his musical talents and on occasions Ian made a contribution.
And then on this ‘Night of nights’ as another year comes to an end, there are smiles all around from this gregarious bunch of swimmers who only came together from different walks of life due to their enjoyment of ocean swimming.

The Mollymook Swimmers Book Launch
.
The Mollymook Swimmers book detailed the past 20 years history of the local swimmers. The book belongs to the swimmers, it is their book, over 60 past and present swimmers made a contribution in one way or another. Ken’s task was to compile it all in some sort of logical manner. Thanks to people like John Louth for trimming down some of Ken’s waffle in the early chapters, Heather Stewart for taking on Ken for adult English tuition, Ross Whitty, Ed Macartney and in particular Mike Gaffney and Garry Hunt who crawled all over the document and made many suggestions. Due to their efforts and the efforts of many others, has resulted in a quality historical account covering the first 20 years of the Mollymook swimmers existence. And the wrap around cover, looks fabulous, thanks to Therese Spillane and graphic designer Dane Moffat.
Graeme Wolfenden upon receiving his copy sent a text “Book: Its GOLD Medal material”. Dick Morath, email, “book is terrific- well done. And it was a great launch too. Congratulations. Dick”. Paul Ellercamp (Mr. Ocean Swims himself) wrote “Book looks good. There’s a lot of work in that”. Many others have made some lovely verbal comments following receipt of their book.

“What about me”?
After reading all the acknowledgements recorded in the book, June asked why she wasn’t acknowledged?
She asked, question after question:
“Who patiently put up with you during the 3 years you locked yourself away in your study”?
“Who brought you cups of coffee every time you asked for one”?
“Who brought you a glass of wine as the day drew to an end and you were still working in your study”?
(I love her dearly and she loves Ken)
