Mollymook Ocean Swimmers WIN at the prestiges Cole’s Classic Ocean Swim

Decked out in colourful swimming caps and speedos, thousands of keen swimmers took to Sydney’s Manly beach under pristine conditions for The Sydney Morning Herald’s ‘Cole Classic’ ocean swim this past Sunday. The ‘Cole’s Classic’ is THE BIGGEST ocean swim event on the NSW Ocean Swim Calendar and according to the results posted, 3591 swimmers took to the water this year, in its 33 rd year. .

The entrants lined up at Shelly Beach throughout the morning to race in the three events, swimming one, two and five kilometres to the finish line at the Manly Lifesaving Club. Each age category departed in waves at 10 minute intervals.

Mollymook Ocean Swimmer Gary Jenner was the winner of the Men’s 60 + years category in the amazing time of 36 minutes & 35 seconds. Fellow Mollymook Ocean swimmer and ACT resident Jill Pettifer came in first in the ladies 60 + years category in another fantastic time for ocean swimming:  40 minutes & 48 seconds for the 2 Km.       (Image credits, thanks Jane Gordon)
