Mollymook Swimmers invited to swim for ‘Laps for Life’
Annie Lisle, the Relationship Coordinator for ReachOut Australia would like to ask the Mollymook Ocean swimmers to consider participating in their annual flagship March swim event, ‘Laps for Life’. Their purpose is to raise awareness and critical funds for youth mental health.
You can participate as an individual or as a group/team for this ‘Laps for Life’ challenge on their website ‘Laps for life’.

Annie provides the following background information and web links:
Quote: “Our communities are experiencing a time of great stress and uncertainty as the pandemic continues to change and challenge us. Young people and their families are particularly impacted, with major life milestones being affected and causing distress and uncertainty for the future.
ReachOut is the most accessed online mental health service for young people and their parents. With 1 in 4 young people currently experiencing a mental health difficulty, and 70% of those who need help not getting it, it is more important than ever to be connecting with each other and providing support to young people when they need it most.
I wanted to reach out to the Mollymook Ocean swimmers, as you have a community / group of like minded people who swim regularly, are active and you push your boundaries in your ocean swimming. You have experienced how swimming is such a wonderful way to connect with like minded people, that has resulted in friendships been built with others that you may never had met other than for your interest in swimming, and more importantly it has provided social opportunities and some lovely friendships as well as being an outlet for your own occasional mental and physical stresses.
Young people need our help more than ever.
In March 2022, ReachOut will be holding its flagship campaign Laps for Life, which challenges people to swim throughout the month of March to raise awareness and critical funds for youth mental health. Given the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, this would be a wonderful and crucial opportunity to raise awareness of mental health in young people in Australia by swimming to save lives. In 2021 we raised over $2.2 million, and are gearing up to make 2022 even bigger and better!
I would love an opportunity for the Mollymook swimmers to participate in this incredible campaign and explore how your swimming community could get involved in Laps for Life.
