After reading the special feature, titled “A Trip Down Memory Lane” in his favourite Sunday Telegraph newspaper, Graeme W. was inspired to do something similar for the Mollymook ocean swimmers. Few photo’s existed in those early years, so Graeme dug out some old clippings to provide a glimpse of that early period. (June B. gave the above photo taken mid-week in winter to the 3 ladies. They later referred to her as the “mystery woman”. NOTE: No wet suits)

Jeff Stein settled in Kioloa and drove up to swim with the group each Sunday. Still a brilliant swimmer, he formerly trained with Olympian Kevin Berry when he was a youngster. John Smeeth (a larger than life character) was instrumental in the start up of the Mollymook Ocean Swim group.
