What’s Grant up to during lock down?
Things are almost normal for Grant during lockdown. Swim in the morning (in two’s) and then working at home as normal 7 days a week. At this time of the year he is busy attending to his bee hives and extracting stacks of honey. However, besides his bee keeping interest, he is busy preparing his mansion to place it on the accommodation rental market for special events, weddings and holiday bookings. Development of a ‘Bird Book’
‘Chateau Morrow’ has a great variety of birds throughout the property. So Grant has asked Ken to help take some pics to do a ‘Bird book’ for the benefit of his guests, from a ‘Chateau Morrow’ residence / location perspective. The ‘Bird Book’ will feature birds on the ‘Chateau Morrow’ property and throughout the local area’s. The following are a small selection of the bird pics taken thus far on Grant’s property.

According to Therese, there are many of these Yellow tail black Cockatoo’s at Grant’s. On my first visit I saw a flock of about 20 parked in a couple of trees on the way down to the beach. The above pic I took in flight after they had been disturbed.

I had never before seen a ‘Shining Bronze Cuckoo’ until this occasion at Grant’s place. I’m told that they are rare, if seen it is in the spring or autumn. They are hard to spot, the shining bronze-cuckoo has metallic golden or coppery green upperparts and white cheeks and underparts barred with dark green.

To my surprise on Grant’s property was this ‘Spotted Pardalote’. My only previous sighting was earlier this year at the Pilliga National Forest, near Coonabarabran.

The female ‘Masked Lapwing’ was nesting on the grass with four eggs, just a few metres from Grant’s pool. The male was very aggressive, flying around, coming close to my head, a little like a magpie during their breeding season, in an effort to chase me away.

The above bird pics were just a small selection of all the pics taken. We also took many pics of: Jacky Winter’s, Little Wattle Bird’s, Red Wattle Bird’s, Willie Wagtails, Grey Fantails, Grey Shrike Thrush, Australian Magpie’s, Laughing Kookaburra’s and many Australian Wood Ducks, New Holland Honeyeater’s, Welcome Swallow’s etc.
