Mystery Guest Commentary

Viewing the comprehensive website for the Mollymook Beach Waterfront accommodation and then speaking with owner Ken, I was able to get a glimpse of what was waiting ahead of me for my weekend stay, and I was eager to make the visit. At the time of booking Ken had told me about a website he had created called “Destination Mollymook Milton Ulladulla” so this, together with the accommodation webpage, meant I was able to find all the information I could want for my visit to this venue and its surrounds. Arriving at the Mollymook Beach Waterfront location and leaving my car in my dedicated parking bay, I was struck by the peaceful setting and the sound of waves nearby. Walking along the automatic sensor lit path I couldn’t help but notice the obvious care, tasteful seaside style and overall quality that was presented in the garden courtyard and entry foyer, and which would also be continued throughout Waterfront. Ken was a welcoming host greeting me warmly by name before showing me through the accommodation which was accessed through a secure foyer, pointing out features and items provided to guests as a standard offering. This consisted of a bountiful welcome hamper which included a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolate, handmade shortbread biscuits, dip, a variety of crackers, as well as bacon, eggs, bread and English muffins for cooking a hot breakfast. A cereal option, fresh milk, orange juice and freshly ground coffee was also supplied along with a selection of individual beverage selections, condiments and accompaniments. A comprehensive library of DVD’s including new releases and old favourites were available for use at my leisure from the foyer off my apartment, as were magazines, books, maps and tourism brochures. Also in the foyer, cabinets containing personal and professional awards were proudly displayed alongside beautiful canvas prints of local scenery. It was apparent that Ken and June have taken great care to present a very attractive, comfortable, relaxed accommodation style of a very high standard for their guests. Beautiful furnishings, decorations, fittings, fixtures and thoughtful inclusions were all of superior quality and matched harmoniously. Discrete security, unobtrusive owners, and sound proofing in the apartments ensured complete privacy, with on call assistance available 24 hours. I had a call for assistance responded to immediately and graciously and I was also able to enhance information provided in well-presented guest compendium and information folders, from Ken, who shared his knowledge of local eateries and places of interest with enthusiasm.
The cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the Waterfront apartment cannot be faulted in any respect. Surfaces gleamed, walls, carpets and rugs were unmarked and expansive tiled floors, glass doors and windows sparkled. A light cobweb on the patio light fitting and maybe the ice in the ice tray was a bit low, but I am looking hard for something to fault now. Austar, a DVD player, air conditioning, soft bath robes, a sparkling bathroom with plentiful toweling including face washers, hairdryer, large shower and fantastic water flow continued the generous offerings of the accommodation. A modern kitchenette with everything necessary for even a prolonged visit was immaculate and included a fridge, compact dishwasher, portable glass oven, coffee pot, water purifier jug to mention just a sample of items provided alongside matching crockery and cutlery. A George Forman BBQ was provided on the patio for outdoor cooking if desired with dedicated utensils and pantry items of spray oil, paper towel, plastic and foil wrap provided. Large glass doors opened up from my aptly named Whale Watch apartment and onto a private patio overlooking a grassy lawn and beyond onto the reef break and rock platforms below. Sitting at the outdoor table and chairs with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine, I watching board riders, boats, dolphins and whales passing, which was sublime and firmly reinforced the amazing location. A set of binoculars provided in the apartment for use was appreciated for watching the ocean activities and native bird visits, though not necessary for a great view. Following the day’s activities I found the elegantly decorated bedroom with a restfully comfortable mattress, pillow selection and lovely white linen ensured a peaceful sleep. Remote controls for the TV and ceiling fan in the bedroom promoted an ease of operation while the mirrored sliding double door wardrobe contained shelving and additional drawer storage, as well as timber clothes hangers and a luggage stand. A small private courtyard for washing down sandy feet and beach items and accessed from the apartment was yet another thoughtful addition by the hosts. Overall my visit was thoroughly enjoyable and the experience ended with a viewing of the other room style, which was equally impressive, and a genuine interest in my stay from Ken. Before leaving I was presented with a memento of my visit in the form of a book of photos of the area, published by Ken, which I thought was a friendly finish to an enjoyable stay.
