South Coast Food Alliance

Four restaurants within a six-kilometre radius of Mollymook beach have combined to form the South Coast Food Alliance. Its aim? To promote the area’s commitment to slow cooking, fresh local produce and discerning palates.

The four founding restaurants are: Rick Stein at Bannisters and Tallwood in Mollymook, St. Isidore on the edge of Milton, and Cupitt’s Winery, on the back road between Ulladulla and Milton.

Friday evening October 30, their inaugural event took place with a packed house at the Mollymook Surf Club. It was ‘fine dining’ at its best with each restaurant serving one each of four dishes with accompanying wines.

Mollymook’s quiet achiever

.

Shoalhaven River Festival was held the previous weekend at Nowra with a myriad of activities for young and old. Festival highlights included a huge street parade, the Shoalhaven River colour me fun run, Macey Water Show, Navy Flag Fly and Rescue demo, fireworks, dancing, music, canoe polo, boat and water craft races. The boat race saw two Mollymook Lady crews fight out the finish whilst the Stand-Up Paddle board race was a close affair with our own ‘Quiet Achiever’ Simone finishing a gracious second.

Monica wrote: “Simone the super woman. Had about a 30 second split between getting off her SUP and into the surf boat competition”.

Retirees: Billy, Trish & Keith at Crescent Heads

Bill and Bianca traveled to Crescent Heads and ‘low and behold’ there was Keith Williams and his goldmine Trish by his side.

Darryl and John spent valuable time at Yarrawonga in meetings with other service club executives. Their meetings received much acclaim with generous comments posted on FaceBook. Keith Claxton wrote: “Dirty job boys, but has to be done”, Monica wrote “Double trouble!!” whilst Annie Steel wrote “Dangerous combination! Just add alcohol.”

The young reporter understands one of the subjects covered at the executive conference was ARAPROSDOKIANS. Here they were taught in management to use figures of speech and make the latter part of the sentence or phrase, surprising or unexpected.
Some examples:
1. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
2. A clear conscience is the sign of a bad memory.
3. War does not determine who is right – only who is left.
4. Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. Nor is there any future in it.
5. They begin the evening news with ‘Good Evening,’ then proceed to tell you why it isn’t.
6. I didn’t say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
7. The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it’s still on my list.
8. I am not arguing with you, I am explaining why you are wrong.
