Andrew’s Milestone – the big O.

40th Birthday Bash

.

On a brisk, windy afternoon, 60 odd family and friends gathered at the Mollymook Golf Club to celebrate young Andrew’s 40th birthday.

It was a lovely afternoon with friends of Andrews traveling from as afar as Wiepa, North Queensland !

Overlooking the lake type conditions (thanks to the Westerly) of Mollymook Beach, guests enjoyed platters of warm treats, sandwiches and the most beautiful orange/almond birthday cake organised from the lovely ladies of Woodburn Deli at the Tallwood Mollymook Shops.

Billy came out in a very Billy speech to his best mate, his son, Andrew, wishing him a very happy birthday.

The gorgeous little Tahlia in a very pretty yellow tutu dress mingled and played with the other children and made everyones heart swell when she did a little heart shape gesture when she had a photo with her Mum & Dad.

Baby Coco was the gem of the day – sleeping, sleeping, sleeping and receiving loads of love and cuddles from anyone that could get their hands on her.

Really was a lovely afternoon to catch up with everyone. Many thanks to Andrew and Michelle for having us.

Happy 40th Andrew. xxx

Bob’s Coronation

Milton Ulladulla Rotary Club

The Coronation: Pic: Brian Morrison officiates, Tues. June 24, 2014

Over eighty people were in attendance. Distinguished guests included family members, friends, (Note: no swimmers were invited) MP Shelley Hancock, Lyn White, community leaders, the Presidents of the local View Clubs, the commodore of the marine Rescue NSW Ulladulla branch Ken Lambert and the Rotary District Governor Maureen Manning.

It was a sober occasion as Bobby pondered the task ahead providing leadership & change during the next 12 mths reinventing the local rotary group to meet the challenges of the modern era with a contingent of elder statesman.

One swimmer asked : How were the swimmers to address Bobby in future? Would it be Sir? When we went to school we addressed the head honcho (teacher) as Sir!

How will Lyn address Bob????  What about .. ??

There were no end to the questions, so the young reporter thought it best to excuse himself.

Carnage on Tuesday: With wind gusts reportedly up to 100 Km / hr. The Mollymook shopping centre lost electrical power and was blacked out during the day whilst trees were blown over in the wind gusts. The back wash from the wind on the ocean was larger than the shore breaks.

Feedback:

  • Re Post – Heat rising from the water: ….. that was absolutely beautiful swimming in the mist. We had the mist around us. We had aqua blue clear water covering us like a warm blanket. We had the amazing sunrise with rays of gorgeous light and the half moon heading to the west of us! It really couldn’t get any better than that!! A very spiritual early morning! Issi.

Billy and his new found passion

.

Roving reporter Ross filed this report from last Sunday:

Sunday dawns and summer is on it’s way. Saturday was the shortest day and Billy spent all the daylight hours and then some, slaving in the kitchen.

Billy has found a new career recently, cooking and baking for friends and family, it must be the extra energy he has from drinking those concoctions from the Bullet. There is even a rumour around that he received a threatening phone call from Rick Stein accusing Billy of muscling in on his turf! Billy challenged Rick to a winner take all cook off for the whole of Mollymook but Rick backed down and was last seen jetting back to the UK with his tail between his legs!

Anyway, I digress, back to the story of his latest creation, a quince and apple crumble, with the fruit sourced fresh from the Blue Mountains, no Woolworths rubbish here. The crumble although very tasty had a more dubious history sourced from places unknown in the back of the pantry. Any way the end result was a superb pie and a great accompaniment to our morning coffee. I feel quite privileged to have had a slice and to all those who missed out… Tough!

I am not sure whether we will see the likes again if Bianca has her way, apparently the kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off with flour and crumbs covering every surface, nook and cranny though out the place and it took her longer to clean up than the seven hours it took Billy to make! Maybe Baker Billy can take up residence in the new commercial kitchen at the surf club and we can just hose it out after every pie. Any way Billy if you are ever allowed to bake again I’ll be there to eat my share.

So Billy I’ve penned a little ditty in your honour. Ross

There once was a Baker called Billy,
Who we thought was a little bit silly,
But when it came to the crunch,
He baked a pie we could munch,
That was ever so tasty… thanks Billy!
