Heather and Paul provide more tourist destination ideas.

Heather continues with her updates on the wonderful retirement holiday tourist destinations throughout Australia. “Following on from their time in Arkaroola they headed south to Ikara Flinders range for 4 days, such a stunning area, Wilpena pound & Brachina gorge, Arkaroo rock. We’ve done a few walks, hiked St Mary’s peak loop 21klm and 1100mtrs, a big day but incredible. Had a big rainfall one night at Brachina gorge and tried to help out a bogged caravan heading out of a gorge , the national parks had to come and we also saw another van jack knifed in a creek bed. We’ve had a couple of flat tyres.

The last four days have been spent at Silverton, Broken Hill & Menindee. Really enjoyed this area, so sparse. Did a few tourist destinations, the Palace hotel where Pricilla was filmed and the mad max museum. Amazing sunset at Menindee bush camp and living desert park. River Cruise in the Menindee lake and some historic stops. Also the Pro Hart museum.

We have started our drive home and are looking forward to seeing the clan, Briddy baby is due in 7 weeks ”

The Real Outback, NSW, 100’s of klm’s  travelling on dirt roads.

Another incredible day, a visit to this majestic National Park that ought to be on most peoples ‘Bucket List’.

The Mutawintji National Park,  is located in the Far West region of New South Wales. It is approx. 170,290 acre in size and situated approximately 880 kilometres west of Sydney. It is rugged and dissected by colourful gorges, rockpools and creek beds lined with red gums. Scattered among the caves and overhangs are Aboriginal rock art and engravings. There are eight major walks, each with there own uniqueness. Cheryl chose the the Mutawintji gorge walk. Each walk varied in length and time, but generally each varied from 2 hours to say 4 hours with one particular historic walk only possible with an Aboriginal guide. You could camp in the area and do a number of walks over a few days if you were so inclined. (Thanks Cheryl, a marvellous choice)

Besides the Mutawintji National Park, the Mollymook Ocean Swimmers later travelled to White Cliffs, and the following day to Wilcannia and then Bourke.

Swimmers trip to Broken Hill and Beyond

Go WEST Young Man, West, like to Broken Hill

The gang arrive at the Silverton Hotel

It has been a memorable trip thus far, other than Pat and Louise hitting an Emu at about 100 kms / hour, only slight damage to their vehicle.

On many occasions I had wished I could have gone on the group bike rides organised by Bobby and later by Heather and John L. Now I have done it (on this road trip) and it has been a wonderful experience. Being time poor I have just included a few pics to convey the beauty we have enjoyed throughout this trip thus far.
