Rick Stein’s restaurant at Bannisters focuses on the great seafood found on the south coast of New South Wales.  It’s menu highlights unique dishes of local flat head, king fish, trevally, snapper as well as local oysters, superb prawns, calamari, scallops and cray fish.

  • Dear Ken & June. Our dining experience at Bannisters was a memorable one and I sincerely hope we can get back to try other dishes on the menu.  The waiting staff were extremely helpful, friendly and aware of our needs.  When our main meal was a bit late coming out they provided us with an extra serve of sour dough with seaweed butter – YUM!!!  We also got coffees on the house.  Nothing was too much trouble.  They even told us the ingredients in the green bean salad we enjoyed so much.  The next night we went to another restaurant ………. and although there was a 8 – $10 difference in the prices the service was not as good and the meals were ok. I’d rather pay the extra for tasty meals and excellent service. Perhaps this feedback could be provided to Bannisters, Kind Regards Zenobia. ACT February 2012

  • Dear June and Ken, We had a lovely lunch yesterday at Banisters. We were fortunate to have a window table …. On being seated, we were given complimentary olives and delicious bread with butter. We both had the fish soup to start, followed by the fish pie: not a pie as one would envisage as no crust to it but it was very tasty and enjoyable, as was the soup. For dessert, I had the Valrhona chocolate tart with raspberry sorbet and Mike had the roulade with creme fraiche and rhubarb coulis. We shared half a bottle of chardonnay ($31) which was also very enjoyable. The service was very good and we were on our way within a comfortable time. We would definitely recommend it and would advise booking early …..  The Wednesday special lunch basically gave you a free dessert compared to the items being chosen from the main menu. However, depending on appetite and preference, it is still worth looking at the main menu as there is a larger choice and sometimes I may choose to have only 2 entrees instead of entree and main and usually do not have a dessert.
